Many of Ramsey's listeners have been wondering - where's Ramsey been? Here's the latest word:
Ramsey is
taking some time off as a result of a medical issue that has been
dealt with effectively. He was hospitalized and underwent exploratory surgery with a
successful outcome. He's recuperating and plans to return to mornings on WNUA as soon as it's practical. He will resume touring in January of
next year.
Karen Williams continues to host the morning show during Ramsey's absence.
In the meantime, if you would like to send well wishes to Ramsey, do that right here. We'll make sure he gets your message. Click here to email Ramsey!
The Legends of Jazz, a nationally syndicated radio show is hosted by WNUA's very own Ramsey Lewis. Each show presents two hours of the great names in jazz and their finest recordings. Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Stan Getz, Billie Holiday, Herbie Hancock, Dizzy Gillespie, Dave Brubeck and more – including the players who are carrying on the jazz tradition today. With Ramsey Lewis as the host, you’ll get unique and personal insights from someone who’s spent more than four decades in music.
The Legends of Jazz can now be seen on WTTW - Channel 11, Friday nights at 9:30PM (CST). Each weekly episode will feature a guest artist performing several numbers with Ramsey and his Trio. In between these informal performances, Ramsey and his guest chat casually about topics related to the show's theme. Weekly episodes will focus on a single instrument, style or element of jazz.

Hi, Ramsey - We love Karen but miss you and your voice each morning. We missed seeing you at Ravinia and with this absence began to wonder if it was a health issue. We heard Rick today mention your hospitalization and exploratory surgery.
We love you, your music and will keep you in our prayers - enjoy your time off - we look forward to your speedy recovery and return to morning radio....

Ramsey, I cannot explain quite how strange or how wonderful your presence has been for me. Single-handedly, you introduced me to smooth jazz, and along with Dave Koz, you've made it a personal passion. My thanks is accompanied by prayers for recovery. We know the Lord has you in His mighty and loving hands, and it's there that we can all find comfort. I look forward to once again hearing your voice and chuckling at your jokes. Until then, rest easy and know you are missed.
