Summer heat presents challenges to both adults and children.

Youngsters are particularly vulnerable to dehydration in high temperatures.  So it is important to protect your child's health when the thermometer readings are  high.

Know the symptoms of dehydration which include:
·         dry mouth and tongue
·         no tears when crying
·         high fever
·         listlessness or irritability
That's why the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress, a not-for-profit organization, and healthcare professionals nationwide recommend drinking plenty of water in order to stay well hydrated and healthy during the summer months.

Immunization Requirements

The Collier County Public School District is reminding parents that Florida law states that children must meet current immunization requirements ( have current immunization records) before they can be admitted to or attend Florida schools.
Individual schools sent notices home last spring, advising parents of immunizations their children require before the start of school.  Parents of students who received immunizations during the summer should bring their child’s blue Florida Certificate of Immunization card to the school office BEFORE school begins on August 19.  Those who still need to receive immunizations should contact their private physicians as soon as possible to ensure that the child will be in compliance with state and local requirements.  The Collier County Health Department provides school-age immunizations free of charge, on a walk-in basis at their three locations: Naples/Main Clinic (252-8595, 252-2564, 252-2684), Golden Gate (353-1274) and Immokalee (252-7300).  Contact the individual sites or check the District Web site for more information concerning hours of operation.
Immunization requirements for the 2008-09 school year can be found on the school
